Writing Rules

The Academic Journal of the Human Rights and Equality Institution of Türkiye, published since 2018, is published twice a year as a peer-reviewed journal. Turkish and English articles are published in the journal.

Authors are responsible for the originality and confirmation of the sources.

The journal includes scientific articles, compilations, translations and studies on human rights. The articles should be original, raising awareness about human rights, educating and creating a different perspective. In the articles, the criteria of being based on research, contributing to the field, and examining new and different developments are taken into consideration.

Article Writing: The writings should be written in language, expression and writing appropriate for scientific article writing, in a way of expression and writing, fluently and clearly. Articles must comply with scientific citation rules.

Page Structure: A4 size should be used as the paper size, 2.5 cm gap should be left from each side of the paper. The beginning of the paragraph should start 1.25 cm inside and the paragraph dimensions should be 6 pt before and after.

Article Title: The title of the work should reflect the content concisely and clearly. The title should be written in all capital letters, 12 point Times New Roman font, bold  and in the middle of the line. 6 nk space should be left after the title. The English title should be written in Times New Roman font, 12 point, bold, in the middle of the line, and the first letter of the words should be capitalized. The article title should not exceed 12 words.

Responsible Author] should be added to the footnotes to ensure communication.

Abstract / Keywords: Turkish and English Abstracts should be a minimum of 150 and a maximum of 300 words. Keywords should be in Turkish and English, provided that they are at least 3 (maximum 7) keywords. Turkish and English abstracts should be written in Times New Roman 9 points.

The main text should be written in MS Word format, Times New Roman font, 12 points, justified, 1.5 line spacing. The headings in the article should be arranged as follows:

Headings/Subtitles: Headings should be numbered and in the following numbering order.

Foot Note: Footnotes at the bottom of the page should only be used for annotations. All information in the footnote should be written in 9 point size, with single line spacing.

Tables and Figures: Tables must be numbered and titled. Tables should be where they should be in the text. Figure numbers and names should be written just above the figure, aligned to the left, in 11 point (Example: Table 1: Human Rights Classification). The bibliography (See Citation rules) should be stated under the table or figure. The reference should be written appropriately, aligned to the left and in 11 points (Source: Okcu, 2020: 67). If the Table or Figure is a compilation, the compiler should be specified (Example: Source: TİHEK, [Compiled by Ali DURMAZ])

Pictures: High resolution, scanned in print quality should be given in their places in the text. In naming pictures, the rules in tables and figures must be followed.

Citation: Citations within the article should be made according to the in-text citation APA (American Psychological Association) method. In order to show the source of the citations made in the text, the surname of the author, if there is more than one author, the last names, the date of publication, the number of the cited page should be indicated in parentheses after the end of the sentence or paragraph. The source of the quotations in the text should be written in parentheses as follows:

  • Source with one author:

  • Source with two author:

(Canatan ve Hıdır, 2007: 99-104). 

In a sentence: As stated by Canata and Hıdır (2007) …..

  • Source with more than two authors:

*If there are more than two authors, only the surname of the first author is given; for others, “et al.” statement is written.

Sources: All sources in the text of the article should be in the "SOURCES" list. The sources should start on a new page at the end of the text, and the references should be written in alphabetical order according to the surname of the author in 10 print size, justified. Hanging paragraph format should be applied for the sources (Page Layout-Paragraph-Indent and Spacing-Indent-Special-Hanging Paragraph in Office).
